Let's Do it Big

Now that I know what I am doing, I want to do it big. One aspect of my project will be writing a formal business proposal and proposals to other businesses asking to be sponsored. The other aspect of my project will deal with marketing. I want my business to expand and become popular. I have tried fliers already, and with my line of services (Car Detailing) they were not the greatest, though they did work. My objective, planned to be achieved by advertising, is to create a greater clientele of two kind: regulars and "drop ins". To create and establish a successful clientele of regulars I must first lure the clients in and then provide services of satisfaction. I have made fliers for this purpose and have some clients that come regularly; however, the fliers weren't very effective in bringing in much clients. To increase "drop ins" I will have to 1) have the business in presentable condition and 2) have signs visible to traffic. I have several signs and they have increased the number clients however my signs do not look very professional and that is what decreases possible customer to some extent.

Basically, my goals to bringing in more business are 1) more professional signs to bring in customers and 2) other, greater methods of promoting my business beyond the people passing by.

  1. Have you thought about perhaps using the fact that you are trying to pay for college as a way to gain clientele? There are frankly lots of other car washes that may be a lot cheaper, if the cleaning is self done. However, I know of no car wash that was started by a kid trying to make his way to college. It is an impressive story. Maybe if you decide on not using this as an angle to pull in customers through flyers, you could possibly have this story run in the baytown paper. I think it will not only increase your clientele, but it will also give people a greater incentive to choose your carwash over others'.

  2. I will count this as a late September blog, so you will need two more for October.

Good luck with your project. You are on the right track. Be sure to look for a TED Talk related to your project idea.

  3. Your idea is very different and unique. I like the fact that you want to target young business men and women. Your senior project embodies a sense that your passion is dealing with business. Although I like your idea how is this going to help better the chinquapin community? Is this going to be a program meant for people who are interested in this particular career or can anybody participate.

  4. I would also like to suggest a few tips that I learned at the Rice Summer Business Institute. The main thing of small businesses is that it's the little things that matter. For example, a nice than you at the end of the car wash would be nice for the customers. You want to get more clients but you also have to keep the ones you already have. Another thing that you have to do is to make sure to do a good job on all your customer's cars so that they're not disappointed by your car wash's quality.

I see a lot of work coming your way if you want to make this car wash big. You have a customer here in Pasadena if you just ask.
